about the artist

Melissa Chavez is an artist based in the Columbia River Gorge, originally based in Hood River, and now based in The Dalles, Oregon. She is a self taught acrylic painter of seven years, whose work is often vibrant, vocal, unique, thought-provoking, and strangely relatable. In 2023 she began taking in online art classes to learn new technique, while practicing color theory. She has also introduced herself to a more abstract style of art. That said, she will never find a distinct style in her work because no style is her style. Her process while in the studio is always evolving and developing.

Melissa is currently working on a series focused on Latino and Indigenous culture, as well as a series focused on intimacy and human connection. Follow her on Instagram to keep up with her work, and check out The Events Page to see what else she may be up to.
